How’s it goin’ gal pals?! Today I’m sharing with you my new obsession with La Bella Donna makeup and chemical-free makeup! I’ve never been the kind of girl to really care what’s in my food or what’s in my makeup, but after feeling the difference between makeup full of chemicals and makeup without it, you could say I’ve been converted!

Why You Should Use Mineral Makeup

I’m a girl that’s always after a bargain and unfortunately makeup bargains used to be my go-to. As I’ve gotten, ahem, older I’ve realized how important it is to really take care of my skin so it looks nice when I’m joining the AARP someday. Mineral makeup is the easiest way to do this. A few of the benefits are:

  • A lightweight feel, as if you aren’t wearing makeup at all
  • Natural protection from harmful UV rays
  • Moisture balance for your skin
  • Color that lasts instead of fading away
  • Natural-looking coverage that allows your skin to breathe instead of clogging up your pores

The lovely team at La Bella Donna sent me a few of their mineral makeup products to try and like I said earlier, I’m hooked! I tried the Moonlight Highlighting Crème Colour on my cheeks, the Liquid Liner, and the amazing LBD Sun with SPF 50! I’m wearing all 3 in the photo above! I rarely love any sort of foundation or powder for my face but I was really surprised at how beautiful my skin looked with it on. It felt completely natural and didn’t leave that icky residue on my phone after I called my mom (because that’s what good daughters do everyday!)

Eyeliner is also tricky for me as I suck at putting it on and it usually slides of my face in an hour anyway. I was pleasantly surprised that the La Bella Donna eyeliner pen stayed on all day even in this hot Texas sun! The highlighting cream was also a fun treat to try! I put it on my cheeks and just overtop of my cheek bones for a little highlight.

The best part is that La Bella Donna has been kind enough to offer my readers 20% off their purchase with code “SPRING20”! As I mentioned earlier, I love a deal and 20% off on high-quality makeup is one I can’t pass up. Cheers!

texas locally made

Every time Monday rolls around I wonder where the heck my weekend went! I did my grocery shopping, cleaning, and enjoyed my Saturday date with David… so where did the rest of my Saturday and Sunday go? Ya feel me? Throughout the work week I try to find ways to make my evenings relaxing and my favorite way to do this is by pampering myself! If you enjoy some “me-time” every week, then you’re going to love the delicious bath and body products from Simply Divine!

organic sugar body scrub

When I was a teenager, I lived for Bath & Body Works. Now that I’m an adult and have learned to read product labels, I always opt for something organic and natural as opposed to mass-produced items. Sara, owner of Simply Divine in Austin, sent me a few of her bath and body products to enjoy and share with you guys. All of her creations are carefully crafted and made deep in the heart of Texas. You won’t find anything bad in these skin products! Read on for my product recommendations!

is coconut oil good for you

Secret to Great Skin Care

What’s the secret ingredient? Coconut oil, of course! We’ve heard all about how great coconut oil is and honestly, I hadn’t tried it until I started using Simply Divine body scrubs and bath soaks! The first thing I tried was the “Rosé All Day” bath soak. Rose petals, lavender blossoms, and dead sea salt make for one of the most fragrant and relaxing scents I’ve ever smelled! When I opened the super cute little mason jar to sprinkle it in my bath, it immediately gave me this happy, relaxed feeling. Sometimes a girl just needs a hot bath, you know?

I’m not even sure where to start with the “Brown Sugar Body Scrub” because it was legit the best thing I’ve ever smelled! I kid you not when I say, it smells like something you’d find in a bakery. And I may or may not have tasted it just to see if it tasted as good as it smelled (it did.) When I was enjoying my little pampering session in my bathtub, I lathered this stuff on my legs and arms to exfoliate and it did not disappoint!

Finally, I finished my bath time with the “Sweet Renewal Face Scrub.” This was another product that I really wanted to eat because it smelled so amazing. That’s not weird, right? I gently rubbed it on my face to exfoliate and it left me with a brighter complexion, which is always nice to have!

If you purchase anything this week, make sure it’s one of these locally made products! They’re reasonably priced and a great addition to your beauty collection. I truly believe that supporting small businesses is the key to growth and sustainability in our communities and Simply Divine certainly deserves our attention! Enjoy your me-time and spoil your skin this week and don’t forget to check out Sara’s online store! Use code “glow” for 20% off your next order!

Happy hump day gals! It’s been a crazy few days decorating and getting ready for Christmas. I apologize if I seem absent but this time of the year is chaotic for me and most likely everyone else too! I’m actually getting to go back to my home town in Maryland tomorrow as an early Christmas present to my family. Is there anything better than being in your childhood bedroom again? I don’t think so!

In preparation for going home, I try to get myself looking my best because let’s be honest, you’re not only trying to look decent for your family but also all the other people you’ll end up running into! I bought some stick-on nails for my trip home and am totally loving them. Read on for more details!

I went to Target last weekend (no surprise there!) and was browsing the beauty aisle when I came across these stick on nails. Normally, nails like that just plain suck. However, a coworker told me how cute they were and how much she liked them so I gave them a try! They’re called Impress Nails and they look so good! Everyone has a Christmas or holiday office party to go to in the next few weeks and these are the perfect nails to sport while holding a plate of little munchies.

I’ll confess to you that I bite my nails a lot and they just aren’t presentable for a work function where I need to impress people. Impress Nails covers up my not so nice nails with professionally manicured-looking nails. I bought them for $5.99 and have gotten tons of compliments. During your next Target run, which will probably be tomorrow, pick up a set to try out. Choose one that features an accent nail like the gold glittery one on my ring finger, it adds so much!

ways to destressHi ladies! I hope your week is going well! With the holidays just a few weeks away, my stress level is going to an all time high and I tend to freak out easily. Since my job involves deadlines and time sensitive things, I have to schedule everything I do for clients around holidays. Sometimes I just have to take a step away from my desk and breathe. Other times, I give myself a mini pampering sesh right at my desk (or in my car if my boss is around!) using the hydrating evian Facial Spray Solution!

how to relax at work

Favorite Ways to Chill Out at Work

One of the best ways to relax at work in my opinion, is by doing a mini manicure! I spray the evian Facial Spray on my fingers to hydrate the cuticles before filing my nails. It makes them a little less rough and gives my tired fingers a chance to rest. After filing my nails, I paint a clear coat of polish on them!

Another way I decompress at work is by going outside and sitting in the sun. I spray on some evian and let it dry in the warm sun. There’s something so enjoyable about just relaxing and focusing on how beautiful a sunny day is. Since my face gets dry in the cold office air, I love having a hydrating facial spray to keep my skin from flaking!

Lastly, my hair gets rather flat and dry throughout the day (shocking, right?). To give it a little lift, I spray my evian Facial Spray in my hair and fluff it while it dries. It appears cleaner and freshly styled! More than likely, that morning I hadn’t styled it in the first place, but you’d never know it.

Good morning girls! Today I wanted to share with you a new beauty product I really enjoy. As you can probably tell, I love talking about skincare products and reviewing some of my favorites. Product reviews help everyone out because we all hate buying a new, pricey skincare product and then finding out it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Hydropeptide, a skincare company that specializes in anti-aging products, sent me their “On the Go-Glow” travel size set of anti-wrinkle serums to test out. Here’s what I thought!

Professional Packaging

First impressions are lasting impressions. A product could be relatively useless but if it’s packaged pretty people will buy it. Marketing is everything these days! Hydropeptide didn’t disappoint with their packaging. The travel sized bottles came in a cute little off-white makeup bag! The bottles all varied in sizes and shapes. I really liked that the company branded themselves as a company that bases their products in science. The cute little molecules on the logo were a great touch!

Simple Skincare Regiment

Another thing I loved about the skincare line was how simple it was. No repetitive “rinse and repeat” nonsense that takes too long. Ain’t nobody got time for that! All it required was that I started out with a clean face (no makeup or visible dirt) and apply each product one at a time. A little went a long way too, which is nice because I know I’m getting the most for my money!

Quality Feel in Skincare Products

I can always tell based on smell and texture if a product is decent. I’ve tried so many “lotions and potions” as my mom calls them and many of them have one thing in common: oil. Not all oil is bad but when it’s excessive it makes the product feel runny, like it’s ingredients will break me out in acne. No one needs that! My favorite product amongst the ones they sent me was the Purifying Mask. It was smooth and creamy with just a tiny bit of texture so your skin has something to grab onto.

Hydropeptide is offering you guys 20% off the “On-the-Go Glow” travel kit using code BBACK20A! Be sure to take advantage of this if you can!

Valentia pure glow moisturizer

Hey gals! I hope your week is going well! I’m still settling into the dry heat here in Dallas. This Maryland girl is used to humidity! The first time I ever saw a cactus was in San Antonio and I just about flipped, I thought it was the coolest thing! In the same moment I noticed that the ground was cracked open. Such a bizarre thing to see for someone who grew up by the water! With all this dry heat, my skin has suffered and gets flaky throughout the day. My skin is also sensitive, so I have to be careful with moisturizers. Luckily, I tried Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer and it worked wonders on my skin!

healthy glowing skin

Like I said, my skin is sensitive! When I first tried the moisturizer, I was a little nervous. It doesn’t take much for my skin to itch and burn from a simple ingredient. I was pleasantly surprised when my skin felt good and dare I say, happy? The moisturizing ingredients are paraben free (parabens are a kind of makeup preservative) and can even be pronounced! Things like ginseng and shea butter are in this productDSC_2160

The process of putting it on is simple: Put it on before your makeup or before you go to bed (or both if your skin is extra dry). If you want the full Valentia regiment, use the cleansing and toning serums. I love that it’s a cream and not an oil or butter-like paste. A little goes a long way too, which I appreciate as beauty products can empty the pocket book pretty fast!

Anytime I’ve ever gone into a beauty store and bought a skincare item, the salespeople always ask me if I have a good moisturizer. That’s how important skincare is. Makeup can’t work wonders without a good base to start with. Taking care of our skin is so important to keep it healthy and looking nice!
