amazon prime pineapple itemsHey everyone! I hope your week is going well and you have plans for the upcoming weekend! David and I are going to look at a few wedding venues and I’m so excited! I also recently bought a giant inflatable flamingo pool for my backyard so I’ll be lounging in that on Saturday!

Since Amazon Prime Week is less than a month away, I’ve been browsing their website writing down all the things I want that might be on sale. So far, everything has been pineapple themed! During the 1700s, pineapples were actually a sign of wealth and power as not everyone could afford the exotic fruit. It was also a sign of hospitality to a wealthy person’s guests. Luckily, everyone gets to enjoy this delicious fruit now and its emerged as a sign of summertime.

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a pineapple pool float, tank top, ice cube tray, and more hiding in my house. I rounded up a few of my favorite pineapple-themed items from Amazon Prime and included the links below (just to let you know, they are affiliate links, so I may make a small commission if you purchase something). Enjoy!

Hey everyone! Some of you may or may not know, but David and I have been in the process of moving to a new place! It’s still in Dallas, just a little bit outside of the city near White Rock Lake.Β  Our apartment was just getting too small for us but we still aren’t ready to buy a home, so we found a cute duplex to rent for another year or so!

It’s an older home built in the 1960s and I can’t get over how well its been cared for and all the retro vibes! I’ll be showing you photos of the whole house later, however take a look at my new bathroom! My ten year old self is over the moon with this very pink bathroom but my adult self is a little shocked by it. When we signed the lease I kept thinking “how am I going to make this color work?” Then my coworker suggested I embrace the very pink tile and go for a vintage Miami look! And that’s what I’m doing!

If you scroll through the widget above, you’ll kind of get a feel for the look I’m going for. I already bought the adorable Lauren Conrad “Wing It” bath rug because I couldn’t resist! The banana leaf shower curtain is going to be hard to find for under $100. Who knew shower curtains could get so pricey!? I’m also searching high and low for some cute, cheap artwork of Miami. I’d love to find some old New Yorker magazine or Vogue covers to frame for the wall.

I’m really excited to start redesigning this space! At first, I was so overwhelmed by it but now I’m absolutely in love with it! Comment with any design ideas you have, I’d love to hear them!

Happy almost spring everyone! Its been so warm and sunny here lately that I can’t help but want to drag out the Easter/spring decorations and turn my house into a giant Easter egg! Every season I try to do a blog post on cute things I’ve found in the Target Dollar section that you guys might like. I was really excited by everything they had in stock for this coming spring!

Favorite Dollar Spot Items

When I walked into my local Target I smiled at the security guard at the door and then saw the Dollar Spot and my eyes lit up! He cracked up as I scurried over there and started snapping pictures of everything. Probably my favorite find was the adorable “Beach Life” tumbler! How darn cute is that? Especially for $5!Β

I also was immediately drawn to those fake Easter egg trees to put on my desk at work (only $3!) I love a ton of greenery in my apartment during the spring and summer just because it freshens up the place. Unfortunately, nothing usually lives when I’m tasked with taking care of it – so fake flowers and little trees are my go to!

Another favorite of mine was the note cards and stationary set. I routinely write to David’s grandma just to say hi and having pretty stationary makes it so much more fun!

Share with me any of your recent Target Dollar Spot finds! I always love to be on the look out for fun goodies!

I’m seriously swooning over every pink and red thing here! Between the Sur la Table mug and that cute little Valentine’s tree from Kohl’s- I’m going to buy so many things I have nowhere to put! I can’t help but love every holiday- especially Valentine’s Day! So I had to share these adorable love-day items that I found while browsing over the weekend. As much as my boyfriend would like to believe that Valentine’s Day is made up, its totally not! It has historical origins, however those origins didn’t involve lots of pink and red everywhere, which is how my apartment is going to look soon!

This weekend I’m painting my nails red, hanging up my Valentine’s garland, and buying myself a big heart wreath to put on our front door! Also taking a trip to Kate Spade to check out that adorable purse! Like seriously, who comes up with this stuff on their creative team??

Share with me your Valentine’s Day plans if you have any! Also I’d love your suggestions on what David and I should do!

hearth and hand collection target

Oh my goodness I’ve been so excited about Chip & Joanna’s Hearth & Hand collection for Target! I had seen my local Target putting up these sheets around the collection so no one could see it yet and I was so tempted to peek! When the collection was revealed, it was exactly what I expected to see from them. It has Joanna written all over everything!

The pieces are very earthy and natural looking. They also have that homespun look that reminds me of classic Americana designs. I think its reasonably priced as well, which is always important! I went through all the pieces a million times and selected a few that I thought would be perfect as hostess gifts for the holiday season!

My Love-Hate Relationship with Shiplap

Joanna Gaines uses shiplap in pretty much every episode and she’s really good at designing with it. However, I’m not a big fan. I know, ridiculous aren’t I? Shiplap, when used by those who know what they’re doing with it and in moderation, can look great. The average person, like myself, will either install it wrong or make it look a little too Pinteresty. I love my pin boards but certain things are just overdone and shiplap is one of them.

I’m also not a fan of trendy anything. Similar to how dark wood paneling was popular way back when, shiplap is popular now. Give it a good 10 years and it will be – you guessed it- tacky. By all means enjoy the trend now but don’t invest too much. Trends come and go. Joanna certainly has beautiful taste in everything she designs but shiplap isn’t one of my favorite design pieces she often uses.

Have you bought anything from the collection? Let me know your thoughts on it!

Oh my goodness you guys, I went to Target the other day (surprise, surprise) and their back to school dollar section was awesome! They had things for teachers, students, and college students. Since I can relate a little more to college students, I figured I’d cover the neat dorm room stuff! So I went through the dollar section with my phone and took photos even though a few people gave me those “what the heck are you doing?” looks while I was doing it. Whatever.

Must-Have Dorm Room Stuff

Once upon a time I was a college freshman and so excited about going to college. I was a little younger than most freshman- 17 years old – and was full of energy. It only took a few months to have that zapped from me but nonetheless, college was a blast! Before I arrived on campus, I went shopping for dorm room stuff. Lots of dorm room stuff. Most of which I didn’t end up needing. I figured I’d share my must-have dorm room items that I got the most use out of!

Cheap dish-ware: Seriously, don’t spend money on cups and plates. You’ll destroy pretty much whatever you use anyway so you only need the cheap stuff. The plastic cups above were only $1!

Inexpensive dorm decor: I had one roommate that literally drilled holes into the wall to hang things. Worst. Idea. Ever. I love the fun cork board, peg board, and wall decals I found in the dollar section! Under $5 each and easy to remove at the end of the year!

Recipe book: My mom printed out a few recipes for me and I’ve kept them in a binder since! If you have a traditional dorm, you’ll want to have easy, no-cook recipes in there that you can whip up before class.

Sturdy laundry basket/hamper: I lugged my hamper to and from the laundry room multiple times and I was glad I invested in one that wouldn’t split open under the weight of 3 weeks worth of laundry.

An actual backpack: No cute little shoulder bags or messenger bags. An actual backpack is what you’ll need to avoid back pain. Those college textbooks get heavy walking across campus!

For college graduates or seniors, leave a comment with one thing you wish you had when you started school!
