Its swimsuit season and most people are groaning. We love the beach, the sun, surf, and all that jazz but we hate our swimsuits. Personally, I don’t want to go through life being apprehensive about the beach/pool and how I look in my two-piece. Luckily, I have found two lovely ladies who are taking the fitness world by storm: Karena and Katrina from ToneItUp.com!

Freshman Year

After I gained the freshmen 15 a few years ago during my first year in college I knew I needed to do something. I wasn’t “overweight” by the doctors’ standards but I wasn’t feeling the hottest either. It took me a few years but I went from weighing 170 at my heaviest to 138 right now! I can’t believe the difference 32 lbs can make. I feel so much better, but as of recent I feel myself slipping away and I don’t like it.

Here’s what I’m going to be doing for awhile: 30 minutes of exercise and a 1200 calorie diet. This has worked so well for me in the past! This may or may not work for you as everyone is different. My exercise will probably Swim_suitconsist of yoga and weight lifting. I need to incorporate cardio but I can’t do everything at once. I will probably end up alternating what I do and even increase time as I go on. However, I know that if I do more than 30 minutes a day I’ll quit really fast. Weight lifting bores me if I’m not at a gym (and my town only has one and its not all that large). I’ll update y’all after a week to see how I feel! In the mean time, I’ll be training and getting motivated with the Tone It Up girls!

I love getting updates from them and finding awesome new routines, recipes, and other feel-good activities. I downloaded their app onto my iPhone last fall and they send me weekly updates and other fun things. Perhaps my favorite thing they produce is their YouTube videos! They are so fun and motivating! Here’s one I found that I love:

  1. Everyone today have their own fitness goals and it’s amazing how one influence the others to become healthy and fit. It’s inspiring too how people is willing to do everything just to achieve this goal.

Hey Liz! So happy you found my blog so that I could find yours! Seems like we’re on very similar paths and trying to live healthier lifestyles (You’re killing it by the way!) It’s really awesome to see how much of a difference 30 minutes of exercise made. While my blog is a little newer, feel free to check out back, maybe I could help you with some healthy recipes and some workouts I’ve been using. I can’t wait to keep reading ! πŸ™‚

  3. Hey with a 1200 calorie diet and that much exercise what would be your average weight loss?

    • For me, it was about 2.5 pounds per week. The exercise was more for building muscle than anything. I burned a little fat but not much. Abs are made in the kitchen they say and I can attest to that (don’t have the 6 pack yet though lol). Talk to your doctor before starting anything like this so you don’t hurt yourself though!

  4. I really loved Daily Burn when I was using it a few months ago, they give you a month free to test it out (then I think it’s like $20 or something after that) and they make a plan tailored to you with workout videos that can be quick or a little longer depending on the day. I liked the ones they would suggest but also I could pick a different one each day if I was feeling something else πŸ™‚

    Good luck!
